Meteora weather & best time to visit

The ideal seasons for visiting Meteora are spring (April–June) and autumn (September–October), when the weather is comfortably mild:

• Spring (April–June): Perfect for hiking and exploring, spring offers lush greenery, blooming wildflowers, and pleasant temperatures ranging from 15°C to 23°C.
  
• Autumn (September–October): If you’re looking for scenic landscapes with golden and amber foliage, mild weather ranging from 14°C to 22°C, and fewer tourists compared to the busy summer months, autumn is recommended. 
  
• Summers (July–August): Experience temperatures peaking around 30°C, which can make midday exploration challenging.
  
• Winters (December–February): Serene and beautiful, but chilly and often snowy, with temperatures ranging from 0°C to 8°C and occasionally dropping below freezing.

For ideal weather conditions and comfortable explorations, aim for late spring or early autumn.

• Early morning (6am–9am): Witness stunning sunrises over the cliffs and monasteries, enjoy cooler temperatures, and experience fewer crowds.
  
• Late afternoon (5am–7pm): Capture dramatic sunsets casting golden hues over the landscape, ideal for photography and relaxed exploration after peak daytime crowds have left.

Avoid visiting during midday (11am–3pm) in the summer due to higher temperatures and larger tourist crowds.
